This hundred yen was issued for the emperor Hirohito and was struck for the Sapporo Winter Olympics of 1972. Altho made in a large quantity, we don't know how much it actually circulated, as it was a larger module than the regular 100 yen with the cherry blossom obverse (KM Y82).
Recorded mintage: 30,000,000.
Specification: 12 g, copper-nickel, 30 mm diameter, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM Y84.
