This type was struck 1873-1905. Many early dates are very rare but this one is common. Varieties exist in the shape of the bottom left stem. In 1906 the weight was reduced to 10.10 g, then reduced to 4.95 g in 1922.

Recorded mintage: 9,566,100.

Specification: 13.48 g, 0.800 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
