This specimen was lot 25231 in Heritage sale 3015 (Long Beach, September 2011), where it sold for $3,737.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Meiji 10 Sen Year 34 (1901), MS67 NGC, an absolute Gem with flawless surfaces and eye-popping mint brilliance. Very rare grade for this low-mintage date." This type, roughly equal to a dime, was struck 1873-1906 and is common in all grades but this date is rare. The superseding type (KM Y29), issued 1907-12, was 2.25 g, 0.720 fine silver. The last silver ten sen was struck in 1917.
