This specimen was lot 2249 in Goldberg sale 112 (Los Angeles, September 2019), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "Japan. Sen, M31 (1898). NGC graded MS-64 Red & Brown." This type was struck 1898-1902 plus a few in 1906, 1909. The size was reduced in 1916. This specimen realized half the catalog value.

Recorded mintage: 3,649,448.

Specification: 7.13 g, bronze, 27.9 mm diameter.
