This specimen was lot 72054 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Kingdom of Napoleon. Centesimo, 1810-M. Milan Mint. Napoleon I. NGC MS-63 Brown. Pop: 1, none graded finer by NGC in Brown. A well struck survivor with satiny luster and some original mint red still visible in the protected areas." The issues of the Napoleonic kingdom of Italy were meant to match the French franc Germinal, altho no copper was being minted in France at this time. This type was struck at Bologna (C1.1 struck 1807-12), Milan (C1.2, shown here, struck 1807-13) and Venice (C1.3, struck 1807-13). Gigante divides the Milan issues into two types, the second type being struck 1811-13.

Recorded mintage: 2,244,000 including an 1810/09 overdate.

Specification: copper, 19.5 mm diameter, 2.1 g, plain edge.
