The first specimen was lot 42322 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. Penny, 1602. Elizabeth I. NGC AU-50." The second specimen was lot 76263 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $125. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. Penny, 1602. Elizabeth I. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, EF Details. From the Richard August Collection." This scarce type is a posthumous issue of queen Elizabeth. Pennies with a star or trefoil mintmark (KM 6.1 and 6.2) were struck in 1601.
