Iraq SB819-23086r.jpg

This specimen was lot 23086 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAQ. 4 Fils, AH 1362 / 1943-I. Bombay Mint. NGC MS-64 Brown. A rather rare piece in such an alluring, near-Gem status, this specimen offers deep violet-brown surfaces, with some hints of red near the peripheries. Compare to an NGC MS-64 Red, which realized a hammer of $600 earlier in 2019." This is a one year type struck at Bombay because shipping coins from the London Mint was too risky during World War Two. The monarchy lasted 1921-58.

Recorded mintage: 1,500,000.

Specification: 4 g, bronze, 21 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-107.
