This specimen was lot 23155 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAQ. 1943-I. Bombay Mint. ANACS MS-64 BN. A choice example of this SCARCE type with attractive rainbow coloration that circles the obverse and reverse centers." This one year type is much scarcer than KM-103b (1938) or KM 112 (1953). Made in Bombay rather than London, it was likely not made available to contemporary collectors. The monarchy lasted 1921-58.
Recorded mintage: 1,500,000.
Specification: 6.75 g, bronze, 25 mm diameter, designed by Percy Metcalfe.
Catalog reference: KM-108.
