This specimen was lot 12322 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $1,116. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. 2 1/2 Pahlavi, SH 1340 (1961). PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder." This denomination, equal to 2½ British sovereigns, was struck intermittently 1959-79. Gold one, five (Fr-99) and ten pahlavis also exist. The coins generally trade as bullion coins.
