from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice Online Auction, lot 75686

This specimen was lot 75686 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. Rial, SH 1340 (1961). Tehran Mint. Muhammad Reza Pahlavi. PCGS MS-65." This type was struck in large numbers SH 1338-1354 and none are worth more than a few dollars. The shah was overthrown in 1979 and he died the next year.
