This specimen was lot 76598 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $1,860. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. 2-1/2 Pahlavi, SH 1338 (1959). Tehran Mint. Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. NGC MS-64. A bright and glowing wedding issue, this charming example delivers rich luster with only the lightest signs of handling across the surfaces. Wholly pleasing and deserved of the attention of many." This coin was issued on the occasion of the shah's marriage to Farah Diba (b. 1938), his third wife. It was the first issue of this denomination.
