Sincona sale 85, lot 1217

This specimen was lot 1217 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$539 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Sultan Ahmad Shah, 1327-1344 AH (1909-1925). 1/2 Toman 1339 AH (1920/1921 AD), Tehran Mint. Bust type with collar. Rare variety. NGC MS62. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 227. Bought from Baldwin's, London, 2008."

This type is listed for AH 1331-1343 (1912-24) with several dates valued at barely above bullion. Varieties exist with open or closed wreath on the reverse. This denomination was also minted in silver (KM 1058).

Specification: 1.43 g, 0.900 fine gold, this specimen 1.40 g.
