The first specimen was lot 1345 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $333.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN: Muzaffar al-Din Shah, 1896-1907, AV 5000 dinars, Tehran, AH1315, rare date for a scarce type, choice VF to EF, R, ex Dabestani Collection." The second specimen was lot 4213 in Sincona sale 67 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 375 CHF (about US$494 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"IRAN | Qajar Dynasty | Muzaffar al-dîn Shâh, 1314-1324 H./1896-1907 AD, Gold coinage. 5000 Dinars 1318 H. Bust half right between date 13 - 18, rev. name and title in wreath. NGC AU58."

This type was struck AH 1314-1315. There is also 5000 dinars in silver.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.44 g, 0.900 fine gold.
