Sincona sale 85, lot 1047

This specimen was lot 1047 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 312 CHF (about US$420 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Nasir al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 AH (1848-1896). 1000 Dinars 1298 AH (1881/1882 AD), Tehran Mint. Saheb-Gharan. NGC MS64. Magnificent condition. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 73."

With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran. One thousand dinars made a kran and ten kran made a toman. The SCWC lists this for AH 1298-1303 and undated.
