Sincona sale 88, lot 191

This specimen was lot 191 in Sincona sale 88 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$463 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Qajar Dynasty, Mohammad Shah, 1250-1264 AH (1834-1848). 1/4 Kran 1256 AH (1842), Tabriz Mint. Sehr selten, Vorzüglich, Feine Patina; Very rare. Extremely fine. Nicely toned. Purchased from S. Album, Santa Rosa, California, in 1988."

This silver denomination was neglected during the reign of Mohammad Shah. The SCWC mentions KM 781 (shown here) for AH 1250 and KM 789 (1.44 g) for AH 1252, both from Tabriz.
