Sincona sale 88, lot 190

This specimen was lot 190 in Sincona sale 88 (Zürich, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Qajar Dynasty, Mohammad Shah, 1250-1264 AH (1834-1848). 1/2 Toman 1256 AH (1840), Tehran Mint. Sehr seltenes Nominal; Very rare denomination. NGC MS61. Purchased from A. Shams, Frankfurt, in 1983."

This gold denomination was neglected during the reign of Mohammad Shah. The SCWC mentions KM 811, a lion and sun design from the Tehran mint, and KM 805, a type R half toman from Tabriz, both rare.
