This specimen was lot 921 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA: Republic, 50 paise, 1964(b), Death of Jawaharlal Nehru, PCGS graded Proof 63. Incorrectly marked as PL on the holder instead of proof." This type was struck 1964-67 along with KM 57. This coin replaced the old British half rupee. The denomination is still in production, all lower denominations having been rendered useless by inflation.

Recorded mintage: 21,900,000.

Specification: 5 g, nickel, 24 mm diameter.
