This specimen was lot 46725 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/4 Rupee, 1925-(B). Bombay Mint. George VI. PCGS MS-65." This type was struck 1912-20, 1925-30, 1934 and 1936 at Calcutta and Bombay. The 1925 is a common date for both mints. In the 1950's and 1960's both mints restruck coins of the Raj for sale to collectors; many restrikes may be distinguished by rusty dies.
Recorded mintage: 4,007,000 plus proofs and restrikes plus 8,169,000 from Calcutta.
Specification: 2.92 g, 0.917 fine silver, 19 mm diameter, reeded edge.
