This specimen was lot 71083 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Rupee, 1920-(C). Calcutta Mint. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. A largely untoned and highly lustrous rupee." This rupee was struck at the Calcutta mint after World War One. Wartime issues at Bombay (dot on reverse) and Calcutta (no dot) were large but dwindled and ceased after 1922, not to resume until 1938.
Recorded mintage: 50,500,000 + proofs + 55,937,000 from Bombay.
