This specimen was lot 73716 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Rupee, 1915-(B). Bombay Mint. George V. PCGS MS-64. An attractive near-Gem example with blue-gray toning and cartwheel luster bursting through." The rupees of George V were struck 1912-22 and 1935-36 and most dates are common. Proofs are rare. The Calcutta mint contributed another 9,900,000 in 1915.
Recorded mintage: 5,372,000, a slightly better date.
