Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 56532

This specimen was lot 56532 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $216. The catalog description^[1] noted, "INDIA. 2 Annas, 1895-C. Calcutta Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-64." This type was struck 1877-1901 in substantial quantities at Bombay and Calcutta. It was the smallest denomination struck in silver. This date has an incuse mintmark and is common.

Specification: 1.46 g, 0.917 fine silver, 15.7 mm diameter.
