India 1895 1/12 anna
The first specimen was lot 2703 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $47.60. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: Victoria, Empress, 1876-1901, AE 1/12 anna, 1895(c), NGC graded MS62 BR." The second specimen was lot 75199 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[2] noted, "INDIA. 1/12 Anna, 1895-(C). Calcutta Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-65 Red Brown. Calcutta mint without mintmark. A first rate coin with every detail of Victoria's outfit sharply defined. SCARCE at this lofty grade level." This type was struck at Calcutta 1877-1901 and at Bombay 1877, 1882-84, 1886-90 only. It is common. The weight was reduced in 1906.
