Stephen Album sale 43, lot 885

This specimen was lot 885 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $480. The catalog description^[1] noted, "HYDERABAD: Mir Mahbub Ali Khan, 1868-1911, AV 1/8 ashrafi, Farkhanda Bunyad, AH1302, a fantastic mint state example! PCGS graded MS66." The Indian princely state of Hyderabad was one of the few large enough and wealthy enough to mint an extensive series of gold coins. This type was struck AH 1293, 1302, 1306, 1309, 1313, 1316-1321 along with a one-sixteenth ashrafi (KM Y18).
