This specimen was lot 33710 in Heritage sale 3114 (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $1,560. The lot description[1] noted, "India: Hyderabad. Afzal-ad-Daula gold 1/8 Mohur AH 1279 Year 6 (AD 1868/1869) MS68 NGC. An incredible specimen, as if it was freshly struck yesterday despite being over 150 years old." The Indian princely state of Hyderabad was one of the few large enough and wealthy enough to mint an extensive series of gold coins. This scarce type was struck AH 1279-1281. It accompanied a mohur, KM Y11, struck AH 1275-1285, and a quarter mohur, KM Y9, both without regnal date.
