Steve Album Auction 52, lot 717

This specimen was lot 717 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "HYDERABAD: Afzal-ud-Dawla, 1857-1869, AV mohur, Farkhanda-Bunyad, AH1279 year "2", the regnal year "2" is actually retrograde "6", which is the correct regnal year for AH1279, small banker's mark in obverse center, small testmark on reverse, ANACS graded XF40." Hyderabad was one of the few princely states wealthy enough to have an extensive series of gold coins. This type was struck AH 1275-1285.
