This specimen was lot 30018 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $1,586.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold Proof 500 Forint 1961-BP PR67 Deep Cameo PCGS, Budapest mint. Struck to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the birth of Bela Bartok. Most pleasing in this deluxe Proof condition, featuring the portrait of Bartok surrounded by fully-reflective fields. Essentially flawless and with a mintage of just 2,053 pieces, this well-preserved jewel is absolutely stunning." This commemorative is accompanied by a smaller 100 forint (KM 565) and fifty forint (KM 562) in gold and a twenty-five forint in silver.
