Hungary 1892-KB forint
This specimen was lot 2764 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY: Franz Joseph I, 1848-1916, AR forint, 1892-KB, proof restrike, blast white luster, a lovely example! NGC graded Proof 68." This type was struck for circulation 1890-92 and is not rare. We don't know when the restrikes were made but the SCWC prices them at their bullion value (about $30 as of March 2026). In 1892, the forint was dropped in favor of the korona. In the aftermath of World War One, the Hapsburg monarchy collapsed and Hungary became independent but without its former territories in Slovakia, Transylvania and Croatia.

Specification: 12.34 g, 0.900 fine silver, 29 mm diameter, edge lettered BIZALMAM AZ ŐSI ERÉNYBEN.
