Sincona sale 63, lot 1599

This specimen was lot 1599 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$345 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Taler 1769 K, Kremnitz. Vorzüglich. Leicht justiert. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, thaler of 1769, Kremnitz mint. Extremely fine, Minor adjustment marks.)"

This type was struck at the Kremnitz mint for Hungary 1767-76. Variations on this type (KM 386.2, KM 388, KM 395.1, KM 395.2, KM 400.1 and KM 400.2) were struck until 1790. Those struck after 1780 changed the ruler from "M·THER·" to "IOS·II·".
