Steve Album Auction 53, lot 3178

The first specimen was lot 4010 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Karl VI. 1711-1740 Halbtaler 1739. Kremnitz. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, half thaler of 1739, Kremnitz mint. Very fine-extremely fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 3178 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[2] noted, "HUNGARY: Karl III, 1711-1740, AR 1/2 thaler, Kremnitz, 1739, an attractive lustrous example, PCGS graded AU53." This type was struck in small numbers 1733-40 yet has a modest catalog value. Another half thaler of 1739 (KM 320) was a product of the Nagybanya mint.

Recorded mintage: 12,000.

Specification: 14.41 g, 0.875 fine silver, 35 mm diameter, edge lettered CONSTATER CONTINET ORBEM; this specimen is 14.34 g.
