This specimen was lot 3997 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Karl VI. 1711-1740 Halbtaler 1725. Karlsburg. Sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, half thaler of 1725, Karlsburg mint, Very fine.)"
This type, listed under Transylvania, was struck 1724-35 and is rather expensive. Altho Transylvania had been reconquered from the Turks a generation before, the native gentry still preferred their local autonomy and the province was still restive.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 14.41 g, .875 fine silver; this specimen is 14.16 g.
