Hungary 1694-KB thaler Dav-3264
This specimen was lot 3136 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €460 (about US$651 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Leopold I., 1657-1705. Reichstaler 1694 KB, Kremnitz. Winz. Kratzer, sehr schön +. (Holy Roman Empire, Leopold I, 1657-1705, thaler of 1694, Kremnitz mint. Light hairlines, very fine or better.)"
This type, struck 1681-1700 in many varieties (Dav-3260, -3261, -3262, -3262A, -3262B, -3263, -3263A, -3264, -3265), is common. This variety, struck 1695-99, is listed as one of the more common thalers of the period. Hungary in 1694 had been freshly reconquered from the Turks but was not part of the Empire.
