This specimen was lot 72513 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY. 1/2 Taler, 1691/0-KB. Kremnica Mint. Leopold I. PCGS EF-40. This lovely 1/2 Taler offers well-struck detail and is pleasingly free from cleaning or excessive wear. Toned to an elegant pewter gray, its surfaces offer lovely originality and eye appeal. The overdate is quite clearly displayed on the reverse." This type was struck 1690-99. This is the only overdate shown in the SCWC but there are likely others. Hungary in 1691 had been freshly reconquered by the Austrians from the Turks but was not part of the Empire.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: silver.
