This specimen was lot 6411 in Künker sale 336 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,800 (about US$2,356 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand III. 1625-1637-1657. Dukat 1641, KB, Kremnitz. GOLD. Winz. Kratzer am Rand, sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand III, 1627-57, ducat of 1641, Kremnitz mint. Small scratch on edge, very fine.)"
This type was struck at Kremnitz 1638-59 and is the most common ducat for this ruler but is about half again as expensive as the ducats of his successor Leopold I. A double ducat was also struck. During Ferdinand's reign, most of Hungary was still ruled by the Turks.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.39 g.
