Sincona sale 23, lot 3249

This specimen was lot 3249 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$3,015 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"UNGARN, Ferdinand III. 1637-1657 Taler 1644. Nagybanya. Selten. Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön. (kingdom of Hungary, Ferdinand III (1637-57), thaler of 1644, Nagybánya mint, rare, very fine to good very fine.)"

The contemporary product from Kremnitz (Dav-3198) is common but this issue from Nagybanya is scarce to rare despite being minted 1639-44, 1658-61.
