Hungary 1618-KB denar

This specimen was lot 38522 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY. Denar, 1618-KB. Kremnica Mint. Matthias II. NGC Unc Details--Cleaned." This type was struck 1613-20 at the end of the reign of Matthias II. A similar denar (KM 54) was struck at Nagybanya. At this time, the Hapsburgs controlled only a small slice of western Hungary, the rest being divided between Transylvania and the Turks. This example has a double struck reverse.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 0.46 g, 0.438 fine silver, 14 mm silver.
