Hungary 1601-KB thaler Dav-3013
This specimen was lot 1260 in Jean Elsen sale 146 (Brussels, November 2020), where it sold for €130 (about US$190 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SAINT EMPIRE, Rodolphe II (1576-1612), AR Taler, 1601KB, Kremnitz. D/ B. cuir. à d., avec une grande fraise. R/ Aigle impériale couronnée. Traces de monture. Traces de soudure au revers. Beau. (Holy Roman Empire, Rudolf II, 1576-1612, silver thaler of 1601, Kremnitz mint. Obverse: armored bust right with a large collar; reverse: crowned imperial eagle. Traces of mounting, solder on reverse. Fine.)"
Altho ruled by the Hapsburgs for centuries, Hungary was never part of the Holy Roman Empire. This type is listed in Davenport as Dav-8066 for 1592-1600 and as Dav-3013 for 1601-08.
