This specimen was lot 6713 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $376. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY. 1/2 Taler, 1574-KB. Kremnitz Mint. Maximilian II (1564-76). NGC EF-40. Lovely old cabinet toning. From the Mezo-Toth Kalman Collection." The Hapsburg ruler styled himself king of Hungary but actually ruled only a slice near the Austrian border, the remainder being divided between the Ottoman Turks and the prince of Transylvania. This half thaler, struck 1573-78 at Kremnitz (shown here) and Košice/Kassa (Slovakia), is accompanied by a thaler (Dav-8058) and a quarter thaler.
