Künker sale 335, lot 4621

This specimen was lot 4621 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €550 (about US$720 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH. Maximilian II. 1564-1576. 1/4 Reichstaler 1574, KB, Kremnitz. R Sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Maximilian II, 1564-76, quarter thaler of 1574, Kremnitz mint. Scarce, very fine.)"

The Hapsburg ruler styled himself king of Hungary but actually ruled only a slice near the Austrian border, the remainder being divided between the Ottoman Turks and the prince of Transylvania. This quarter thaler is accompanied by a thaler (Dav-8058) and a half thaler.
