Sincona sale 90, lot 2087

This specimen was lot 2087 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 7,500 CHF (about US$9,911 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"UNGARN, Matthias Corvinus, 1458-1490. Goldgulden o. J. (1486-1490), Kremnitz. Kammergraf Peter Schaider. NGC MS64. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. Das durch NGC höchstbewertete Exemplar. (kingdom of Hungary, Matthias Corvinus, 1458-1490, undated goldgulden, circa 1486-90, Kremnitz mint. Extraordinary condition, Finest certified by NGC.)"

The ducats or florins or goldgulden of Hungary are among the more common gold coins of the late middle ages.
