Sincona sale 90, lot 2085

This specimen was lot 2085 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 3,800 CHF (about US$5,021 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"UNGARN, Matthias Corvinus, 1458-1490. Goldgulden o. J. (1478), Kremnitz. Prägung für Urbanus Doczy de Nagylacse, Graf der Bergwerke. Selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Hungary, Matthias Corvinus, 1458-1490, undated goldgulden, circa 1478, Kremnitz mint. Struck for Urbanus Doczy de Nagylacse, count of the mine. Rare, Very fine-extremely fine.)"

The ducats or florins or goldgulden of Hungary are among the more common gold coins of the late middle ages.
