This specimen was lot 31035 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $3,055. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria 50 Cents 1892-H AU55 NGC, Heaton mint. A two-year type with a low mintage of just 20,000 pieces, featuring the 'H' mintmark below the Queen's portrait, lightly toned original surfaces, and a sharp strike across both sides. Not often available, especially at this level of technical quality, and sure to bring a premium in today's current market." This type was struck at the London mint 1890-94 and at Heaton 1891-92 (shown here). This specimen sold for many multiples of the catalog value.

Recorded mintage: 20,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 13.57 g, .800 silver, .349 troy oz ASW, 32 mm diameter.
