This specimen was lot 30981 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria 5 Cents 1867 MS65 PCGS. Superior, very lightly toned and incredibly original surfaces. Rarely seen in this premium grade, this early date in the series has immediate eye-appeal and is currently only surpassed in fineness by one other certified example." This type was struck at the shortlived Hong Kong mint 1866-68 and at London and Heaton 1872-1901 and this date is listed as scarce. British coinage for Hong Kong ceased in 1997 when the island was returned to China.
