Hong Kong 1866 mil
The first specimen was lot 4408 in Goldberg sale 84 (Los Angeles, January 2015), where it sold for $117.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hong Kong. Mil, 1866. Victoria. NGC graded MS-64 Red & Brown." The second specimen was lot 2423 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$304 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"HONGKONG. Victoria, 1842-1901. Mil 1866, Heaton Mint. Fast FDC. (Hong Kong, Victoria, 1837-1901, mil of 1866, Heaton mint. About uncirculated.)"
This denomination was struck at the shortlived Hong Kong mint 1863-66 but was dropped thereafter. British coinage for Hong Kong ceased in 1997 when the island was returned to China.
