This specimen was lot 399 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it sold for $9,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS (United), Holland, gold ducat, 1736, very rare provenance, NGC MS 62 (Shipwreck Blue Label), finest known in NGC census. Choice bold strike with full details, smooth and lustrous fields, rich gold color, but also important as one of only two or three ducats from this uncommon shipwreck. Pedigreed to the Sotheby & Co. (London) auction of November 1973 (lot 22), with original catalog for that auction signed by the salvor (Robert Sténuit), also pedigreed to Sedwick Auction 15, with original lot-tag 132. Recovered from Wendela, sunk in 1737 off the Shetland Isles, north of Scotland." This denomination was struck in this style 1672-74, 1683-88, 1691-94, 1698-99, 1702-09, 1715-48. Later issues were milled.
