Hildesheim lies between Hannover and Goslar

This specimen was lot 912 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,774 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HILDESHEIM, STADT, Reichstaler 1628, mit Titel Ferdinands II. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Ungewöhnlich sauber ausgeprägtes Exemplar, vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Hildesheim, thaler of 1628, struck in the name of Ferdinand II. Very rare in this quality, unusually well struck, extremely fine.)"

This type of 1624-31, issued by the city, not the bishop, is expensive.
