This specimen was lot 30881 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hildesheim. Ferdinand Taler 1630-CG AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Moritzberg. Mint. A lightly cleaned example from this fleeting issue that presents attractive iridescent tones at the peripheries and golden-gray centers. An appropriate amount of wear is noted for the designated classification, and the surrounding fields are mostly absent any impediments that require mentioning. Most handsome in total and a strong candidate for the type." This type was struck 1623-25, 1630-31 and is not common. Ferdinand of Bavaria was bishop 1623-50 even tho his domain was Lutheran. He was also provost of Bertesgaden, archbishop of Cologne, bishop of Liège, bishop of Münster, bishop of Paderborn and abbot of Malmedy even tho he was never ordained as a priest.

Recorded mintage: unknown.
