This specimen was lot 1405 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Taler 1836. Clausthal Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Hannover, thaler of 1836, Clausthal mint, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type of 1835-37 is the last issued under William IV, king of England. On his death, his niece Victoria ascended the throne of England and Hannover passed to the king's brother Ernest August, severing a connection started in 1714. This date is common.
