Hannover 1835-A thaler Dav-663
This specimen was lot 74539 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Hannover. Taler, 1835-A. William IV. PCGS Genuine--Repaired, Unc Details. A well struck Taler with pleasing russet to auburn toning on both sides. Some scratches in the obverse peripheral legends indicate and old repair, now toned over. From the Richard Margolis Collection." William IV was the last king of England to also rule in Hannover. This thaler was struck for him 1834-35. Another thaler with his arms on the reverse (KM 169) was also issued in 1835.
