This specimen was lot 3092 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "HANOVER: George IV, 1820-1830, AR 2/3 thaler, 1829-C, once lightly cleaned, AU." The kingdom of Hannover was the old duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg prior to the Napoleonic invasions. It was separated from the British crown in 1837 and absorbed by Prussia in 1866. It is not recorded whether George IV ever set foot in his German domain. This type was struck 1822-29.
