This specimen was lot 30994 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hannover. George III of England gold 2-1/2 Taler 1814-CHH MS63 NGC. Struck to an impressive depth, with a resulting clarity across all facets of the design, the central horse motif in particular standing in bold contrast against the surrounding fields. Overall the surfaces reveal a great quality of care observed in preservation over the past centuries, with only a small handful of light grazes in the right obverse field precluding a higher grade." The old electorate of Brunswick-Luneburg was annexed by Napoleon in 1807. At the Congress of Vienna, it was restored as the kingdom of Hannover and ruled by the British kings until 1837. This is the only date. The denomination was last struck in 1855 and the kingdom was annexed by Prussia in 1866. It is now part of Germany.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.34 g, 0.903 fine gold.

Catalog reference: KM 109, Fr-623, Jaeger-102.
